Intel Ivy Bridge and Corsair Memory Compatibility

The newly announced 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ processor family is their next generation of 64-bit, multi-core processors built on 22-nanometer process technology. Ivy Bridge is the successors to the Sandy Bridge processor family, and should become available to purchase at retail on April 29, 2012. The new Ivy Bridge processor offerings are the Intel Core i7-3770K, Intel Core i7-3770, Intel Core i7-3770S, Intel Core i7-3770T, Intel Core i5- 3570K, Intel Core i5-3550, Intel Core i5-3550S, Intel Core i5-3570T, Intel Core i5-3450, and Intel Core i5-3450S Processors.

Corsair Meets Intel's Ivy Bridge and Panther Point

Intel always manages to assign some interesting code names to their chipsets and to their processors. For example, their two latest enthusiast product announcements are code named Panther Point (chipset) and Ivy Bridge (CPU). Although our corresponding secretive code names aren't secret, it's always great fun to use some Vengeance® memory to learn about the new products and of course see how they perform and overclock!

Intel XMP and Memory Performance Basics

When it comes to choosing the right memory for your system there are three main factors to consider regarding performance. These factors are memory frequency, latency and density. This presentation will briefly go over these performance factors and also explain Intel® XMP (Extreme Memory Profile). With XMP the days of trial and error memory overclocking are gone. XMP allows guaranteed overclocked memory performance to be enabled with the “flick of a switch”, while still allowing expert users the option of manual configuration and tweaks, beyond the officially tested and guaranteed overclocked settings.

Big cooling in a small package

Intro imageJudging by the title of this blog you might think that I’m about to discuss the Corsair Cooling™ Hydro Series H50 High Performance CPU cooler, since "big cooling in a small package" is a very accurate description of this mighty little cooler. And you’d almost be correct, because while this post does revolve around the Hydro Series H50, it more accurately concerns a very cool implementation of this product that will appeal to LAN gamers and lovers of miniature PCs in general. I’m talking about a quad-core, DirectX 10.1-powered Mini-ITX LAN gaming box, no larger than an average shoebox, liquid-cooled using the Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50.
