Congratulations on your new Corsair Vengeance gaming peripheral! Now that you've got it out of the package the first thing you'll want to do is download and install the latest firmware and software and I'm here to show you how. It's easy to do, and everything you need can be found on the product page for your Vengeance mouse, keyboard, or headset on Corsair.com. I promise you'll find this to be a painless process, that ensures you're up to date with the latest features and bug fixes.

The example I'll be using today is for the Vengeance M90 MMO and RTS Laser Gaming Mouse. Go ahead and navigate to the appropriate product page (M90 can be found here).

Once you're there simply click on the “Downloads” tab on the left hand side of the screen, and then on the link to download the latest version of the software to your computer.

After the file is finished downloading open the folder where you saved it, and unzip the file. Everything you need to get started is there, including the revision notes and various guides. I'm going to walk you through the process of updating your firmware and installing the software so you can skip reading those documents for now, but it's always a good idea to read through the included release notes to see what's been added or changed.

Before you go any further it's important that you ensure your device is plugged directly into a USB 2.0 socket on your motherboard. The firmware utility won't run on USB 3.0 and a USB hub may result in a bricked device. Once you've ensured you're plugged into the correct USB 2.0 socket/s go ahead and run the firmware update application.

Click “Next” then accept the EULA on the next window and click “Next” again. The next screen few screens will ask you the normal questions about where you want the software installed, start menu folder, and so on. You don't need to change anything (unless you want to), just take the default values and click “Next” for the next couple of screens then “Install” on the last. Once the program is done installing it's going to ask you if you want to start the application. Since this is what we're here for you should probably just click on the “Finish” button. ;-)

The first thing you're going to see is the “Warning” message where we tell you the normal things about flashing firmware. That is, make sure you're plugged in if on your laptop and that it might take a while and that you should NEVER turn off the power or disconnect the device until the process is completed.

After you've clicked “OK” to that you'll see the window for the actual firmware update open up. It's pretty straight forward at this point, go ahead and click the “Update Firmware” button and sit tight while your device is flashed to the latest firmware revision.

Assuming you've followed my instructions properly you are now running the latest version of firmware for your device and are now ready to install the actual Corsair Vengeance Gaming Software. Go back to the folder with your unzipped files and run the software installation file.

The first thing you'll see is the “Setup Language” screen. Since I'm in the U.S.A. I'm going to go with the default (English) but there are a total of 10 different language options so you should be able to find one that works for you.

Once you've selected you default language you'll be greeted by the software installation screen. The options here are nearly identical to the ones you went through before; EULA, default location, and so on. After you've gone through those you can click on the “Install” button on the final screen and we'll take care of the rest.

Congratulations you've just completed your first steps towards global domination!
