Our new Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50 Intel® back plate design is similar to the old one, but has been changed somewhat to make it more versatile. It's an easy installation, as seen below.

First, the parts:

The installation:

Put the threaded insert into the proper hole for your motherboard. Then, use the adhesive backed tape to attach the back plate to the back side of your motherboard. Here are 2 pictures depicting the backplate improperly oriented and in the correct orientation.

Note the locking tab on the Screw Retainer Insert circled in red below. This tab faces the inside of the retaining ring.

Note the orientation of the screw retainer insert in the bracket in the Retaining Ring picture above. The locking tab goes to the inside position when inserting the screw retainer insert into the bracket. The outside hole position is for socket 1366. The inside hole position accomodates both 1156 and 775.

After your back plate is installed, you need to attach the retaining ring to the back plate. Tighten each screw approximately 2 turns so you can insert the cooling unit into the retaining ring. The red arrow indicates the grooves in the cooler.

Once you have the retaining ring in place, slightly twist the cooler so that the tabs on the locking ring go into the grooves on the cooler.

Tighten the four screws in an alternating "X" pattern so distribute the tension evenly. Tighten the screws until they are snug. Do not overtighten the screws.
