Force Series 3 Notebook Upgrade Kit: MacBook How-To

Par. Mike Clements Posté Jul 16th 2012

The Force Series™ 3 Notebook Upgrade Kit, or NUK, comes with a CD for use with both Mac OS® and Microsoft® Windows®.The CD provides a tutorial on how to use the Mac disk utility built in to the Mac OS. The included written instructions are very good and here we have augmented them with screen shots.

For those readers that are interested, our Windows How-To guide can be found here.

The NUK has been designed to be what I previously defined as chimple — so simple a chimp can do it. Using this kit with a Mac is in fact chimple as evidenced by the fact that I completed it easily.

Introducing the Force Series GS SSDs

Par. Mike Clements Posté Jul 05th 2012

Connoisseurs of SSDs know current NAND flash for SSDs comes in 3 varieties — fast, faster, and fastest. These can also be called asynchronous, synchronous, and toggle NAND respectively.

Those users that want the ultimate in SSD performance seek out the fastest SSD controllers paired with the fastest NAND flash. This is why we have paired the SandForce SF-2200 SSD Processor with toggle flash to create the Force Series™ GS line of SSDs.

Let’s start with the list of hardware I’ll be using.

Par. Mike Clements Posté Jun 06th 2012

There's almost always some very cool unexpected news announced each year at Computex and we have some this year. Corsair has proudly announced the Neutron Series and Neutron Series GTX Series SSDs. These SSDs come in fast, and faster configurations respectively. Both are based on a new SSD controller exclusive to Corsair, the LM87800 6Gb/s SSD controller from Link_A_Media Devices (LAMD).

Here's the Neutron Series SSD. Neutron Series SSDs are based on Micron ONFI NAND flash and it is extremely fast.

The Corsair AX1200i Digital ATX Power Supply

Par. Mike Clements Posté Jun 05th 2012

Of all the components needed to build a computer, an ordinary power supply can be the most overlooked. The new Corsair AX Series AX1200i Digital ATX power supply is far from ordinary. It defies this definition and in fact tosses it out the window. The new Corsair AX1200i is a revolutionary product in the computer industry and it will most certainly not be overlooked in any system.

The Corsair HX Series Power Supply Refresh: Going for the Gold!

Par. Mike Clements Posté Jun 05th 2012

Back in 2009 when we originally released our HX Series power supplies, we listed in their specifications that they met and exceeded the standards for 80 PLUS® Silver certification. Many reviewers and PSU aficionados quickly discovered that every unit tested and reviewed in this series actually met the standards for 80 PLUS Gold certification.

We knew this of course but we also knew that we could not guarantee that every HX Series PSU that hit the shelves would always meet the 80 PLUS Gold standard to our satisfaction. So, we intentionally chose to apply a conservative rating and list our HX series PSUs as 80 PLUS Silver units.
