Corsair Professional Series™ Gold power supplies have set a new standard for performance, quality, reliability, and energy-efficiency in consumer PSUs. One of the best features of the AX series is that it is completely modular. I will be showing you how the AX750, AX850 and AX1200 cables provided with the PSU should be connected to your power supply.

 

Understanding what comes with your AX series PSU

The picture below shows exactly what comes with our AX series PSU (depending on which AX series model you purchase, the cable amount varies):

  1. Corsair AX PSU with protective pouch
  2. Cables with carrying bag (amount of cables varies on which model purchased)
  3. Users manual
  4. Power cable
  5. Tie straps/screws to mount PSU to case/case badge

 

 

Installing 24pin and 8pin cables to your AX PSU

First you will want to understand each connector on your PSU. The picture below will give you the basic layout for both the AX750/AX850 and AX1200:

  1. Boxed in yellow: 24 Pin connector (both connectors will need to be plugged)
  2. Boxed in blue: Peripherals and SATA cables
  3. Boxed in Green: EPS connector and PCI E connector

 


Notice in figure 1 the layout of the AX750/AX850 differs from the AX1200.

 

24 Pin Connections to the Power Supply

All cables are labeled as shown in figure 2, indicating what power supply these cables can be used for. It also indicates which side of the cable will be plugged to the power supply as well (the side that you plug into the PSU will be labeled 750/850AX only or AX1200 only).

 

 

All power supplies are designed to have a 20-24 pin connectors depending what your motherboard requires. If it only requires 20 pins, leave the other 4 pins (2x2) hanging off to the side. Do not try to use these for the EPS 12v connection.

 

8/4 Pin and PCI-E Connectors to the Power Supply

Each Power supply should come with multiple EPS 12v 8/4 pin connectors. On the AX1200 they all come in a form factor of 8 pins (2x4) and are labeled as "4-4 CPU" on the PSU (see figure 1). The AX750/850 has a slight different layout. Boxed in green you will notice two different pin layouts on the PSU, an 8 pin and two 12 pin plugs. The 8 pin plug is designed only for the EPS 12v connector where the other two 12 pins are used for the PCI-E connectors.

 

 

Once cables have been properly installed to the PSU, plug the other end into the socket on the motherboard. Depending on your motherboard, your EPS 12v connector will either require an 8 or 4 pin connection. All our power supplies come with both options. You can connect the two 4 pins (2x2) to create an 8 pin connector (2X4) or use either or 4 pin connectors if your board only requires 4 pins (see image below).

 

 

Once the system is complete and your ready to run the system double check to make sure all cables are connected properly. Once you’re ready turn your system on and enjoy!

Hi guys, I need your help. I'm using AX850 with Maximus V Formula and I'm unable to connect the additional 4 pin EPS connector on motherboard. I'm using 2 HD7950 cards which take up all 4 PCI-E connectors. So this doesn't leave my any connection on back of my AX850 where I can connect the additional 8 pin EPS connector. Please help.
