Load testing the AX1200i Digital ATX PSU

By Jonny Gerow posted Aug 08th 2012

Hello everyone. My name is Jonny Gerow, but a lot of people know me by my alias "jonnyGURU". I started up a little website humbly called jonnyGURU.com, where we primarily review computer power supply units. I'm very happy to say that I am now working at Corsair as a technical marketing specialist for power supplies and I'm excited to be given the opportunity to play with Corsair's newest unit: the AX1200i Digital ATX Power Supply.

Last week, I cracked one open and showed everyone what it looks like on the inside and how it works. Today I get to put the AX1200i through the paces on some of this test equipment I happen to have sitting here.

Force Series 3 Notebook Upgrade Kit: MacBook How-To

By Mike Clements posted Jul 16th 2012

The Force Series™ 3 Notebook Upgrade Kit, or NUK, comes with a CD for use with both Mac OS® and Microsoft® Windows®.The CD provides a tutorial on how to use the Mac disk utility built in to the Mac OS. The included written instructions are very good and here we have augmented them with screen shots.

For those readers that are interested, our Windows How-To guide can be found here.

The NUK has been designed to be what I previously defined as chimple — so simple a chimp can do it. Using this kit with a Mac is in fact chimple as evidenced by the fact that I completed it easily.

Corsair Air Series Fan Terminology and Testing

By Jeff Checchi posted Jul 11th 2012

sp120

We recently released a new lineup of Air Series case fans, which come in both AirFlow (AF) and Static Pressure (SP) versions. In this blog I will define the terms that are traditionally used to describe the characteristics of fans, and talk about the difference between "airflow" and "static pressure." I will also show you how we test the fans and how we were able to accurately determine the specifications for each fan. Let’s start with a quick explanation of the terminology which is used when describing the characteristics of fans:

SWVA LAN April 2012: Well Played!

By Mike Clements posted Jul 09th 2012

In late 2011 I received an email from Caleb Tote, one of the primary organizers of the SWVA (Southwest Virginia) LAN event. According to their Facebook page, "SWVA is A 100% non-profit organization, offering gaming events to local programmers, gamers, and all types of computer enthusiasts." Caleb told me who he was, explained the history and scope of their LAN event, and asked about how to apply for a LAN sponsorship package from Corsair for their April 12-13, 2012 LAN event.

Building a system with the Graphite Series 600T Silver Edition and Dominator Platinum memory

By Jeff Checchi posted Jul 06th 2012

Recently we announced quite a few new products, and updates to current product lines. Some of the most exciting are the new Dominator Platinum DDR3 memory with LED lighting, and the new Graphite Series 600T Silver mid-tower case. What better time to do a system build than when we have two new products that compliment each other so beautifully! We will also be using our brand new Force Series GS SSD with its fast toggle NAND technology, and our recently updated GS800 PSU. While we are at it, I am going to swap out all the stock fans from the 600T with our new Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition fans, and we will be using our SP120 Quiet Edition fans in place of the stock Hydro Series H100 fans. The silver and blue theme turned out great! If you have never built a system before, or you are not familiar with some of our new products from then check out the video below!

Introducing the Force Series GS SSDs

By Mike Clements posted Jul 05th 2012

Connoisseurs of SSDs know current NAND flash for SSDs comes in 3 varieties — fast, faster, and fastest. These can also be called asynchronous, synchronous, and toggle NAND respectively.

Those users that want the ultimate in SSD performance seek out the fastest SSD controllers paired with the fastest NAND flash. This is why we have paired the SandForce SF-2200 SSD Processor with toggle flash to create the Force Series™ GS line of SSDs.

Corsair Neutron Series and Neutron GTX Series SSDs

By Mike Clements posted Jun 06th 2012

There's almost always some very cool unexpected news announced each year at Computex and we have some this year. Corsair has proudly announced the Neutron Series and Neutron Series GTX Series SSDs. These SSDs come in fast, and faster configurations respectively. Both are based on a new SSD controller exclusive to Corsair, the LM87800 6Gb/s SSD controller from Link_A_Media Devices (LAMD).

Here's the Neutron Series SSD. Neutron Series SSDs are based on Micron ONFI NAND flash and it is extremely fast.
