The Corsair HX Series Power Supply Refresh: Going for the Gold!

By Mike Clements posted Jun 05th 2012

Back in 2009 when we originally released our HX Series power supplies, we listed in their specifications that they met and exceeded the standards for 80 PLUS® Silver certification. Many reviewers and PSU aficionados quickly discovered that every unit tested and reviewed in this series actually met the standards for 80 PLUS Gold certification.

We knew this of course but we also knew that we could not guarantee that every HX Series PSU that hit the shelves would always meet the 80 PLUS Gold standard to our satisfaction. So, we intentionally chose to apply a conservative rating and list our HX series PSUs as 80 PLUS Silver units.

The New Corsair Force Series 3 SSD Notebook Upgrade Kits

By Mike Clements posted May 24th 2012

Quite frequently when talking about computers, I use the term "chimple". I believe that ideally computer upgrades in general should be so simple that a chimp can do them — aka chimple. My reasoning is that if something is in fact so simple that a chimp can do it, that means that I have a decent shot at pulling it off too.

Our new Force Series 3 SSD Notebook Upgrade Kits are the epitome of chimple. The kit includes an SSD, a USB connector, and the Corsair Data Migration software CD.

Corsair and TigerDirect MS Fundraiser Follow Up

By Mike Clements posted May 21st 2012

We wanted to follow up on our recent Corsair and TigerDirect Auction to Benefit the National MS Society. We worked with our friends at TigerDirect and EVGA to place a really nice gaming PC into an eBay auction starting at $150. The entire proceeds, minus the normal eBay fees, have been donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The winning bid was for a whopping $2850!

This was a wonderful team effort and we had a great response from the community. We'd like to offer a heartfelt thanks to all of you that helped spread the word about the auction, that reposted the links, and that shared it on Facebook, etc. Each and every one of you helped make this a great success!

The wireless technology behind the Vengeance 2000, part one: adaptive channel hopping

By Dylan Rhodes posted May 17th 2012

The Vengeance® 2000 7.1 Wireless Gaming Headset receives and transmits digital audio over what's colloquially referred to as the 2.4GHz band. More accurately, the band extends from 2.404 GHz to 2.478 GHz, and it's known as one of the ISM bands. ISM stands for “Industrial, Scientific and Medical,” and the band was originally allocated for — as you can imagine — industrial, scientific and medical purposes other than communication.

Maxing out the performance of an aging Macbook Pro

By Jeff Checchi posted May 09th 2012

We have done many “How to” upgrade guides with very few focusing on notebooks, and of those, even fewer talked about a Mac specifically. With Macs being quite a popular notebook, I thought it would be a good idea to show how easily you can increase the performance of your Mac with two of the most noticeable upgrades available on a notebook, Memory and SSD. Today I will be upgrading my own Macbook Pro (MC374LL/A Mid-2010) with a 480GB Force GT SSD and maxing out the memory with 8GB of 1066MHz Corsair Mac Memory (CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7). This Mac is maxed out at 8GB of 1066MHz memory but if you have a newer one you may be able to use 1333MHz+ and up to 16GB.

Introducing Corsair Air Series Fans!

By Jeff Checchi posted May 03rd 2012

When I first started at Corsair back in 2007 we had recently got into the PSU business, and we were still primarily known as a memory company specializing in overclocking and enthusiast grade components. Since then, we have successfully launched many more product lines designed specifically for the enthusiast PC builder. Air Series™ fans are the latest addition to the Corsair lineup of products. We currently sell many products that already come with fans, so it was a logical next step to manufacture our own fans which would meet our own specific needs, as well as the needs of hardware enthusiasts everywhere.

Corsair and TigerDirect Auction to Benefit the National MS Society

By Mike Clements posted Apr 27th 2012

This all started over lunch one day several months back when I was asked by Corsair etail sales account manager, Josh Kreitzer, to join him at lunch with TigerDirect account manager, Orlando Pedrera. During our conversation, we realized that we all had something in common — bicycles. Josh and Orlando also mentioned that they were both avid cyclists and that they were heavily involved in working with the Team Bacardi cycling team raising money to donate to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society via an April charity bicycle ride.
