Obsidian Series® 650D Mid-Tower Case

Quality Construction

The Obsidian Series 650D mid-tower case is manufactured with strong, stamped steel parts for increased rigidity, and coated in a black textured paint. The front panel features a beautiful black brushed aluminum faceplate to bring a subtle elegance to your next build.

Excellent Cooling

A large, black 200mm intake fan hides behind the front dust filter, quietly pushing vast amounts of air over your hard drives and video cards. The air is then exhausted by a second 200mm fan on top of the case, and a rear 120mm fan. The top fan can be replaced by dual 120mm or 140mm fans, and is pre-spaced for a dual radiator if you’re interested in watercooling. And all fans are controlled by a three-mode, four-channel fan controller should you want to make your own choice between noise and performance.

Award-Winning Features

The 650D is a member of the award-winning Obsidian Series of cases from Corsair. The Obsidian Series is more than just a name — it means real features that can benefit even the most experienced system builder.

Corsair Obsidian Series 550D Spring Cleaning

By Mike Clements, on March 29th, 2012

Spring is in the air. Spring brings about many things such as showers, flowers and spring cleaning. And, many times a spring cleaning job becomes so much more work than you initially thought it would but, that's not always a bad thing!

In August of 2011, we published a blog post using an Obsidian Series® 650D Mid-Tower Case. The goal for that system was for it be silent, or as close to silent as we could get it. That worked out pretty well. It worked out so well in fact that this has been my daily driver since that time and it has performed flawlessly.

Silent, or Close to It: 650D + Intel Sandy Bridge/P67 Build Log

By Mike Clements, on August 3rd, 2011

Simon and Garfunkel once famously sang in a hit song from the 1960s “these are the sounds of silence”. I always thought that was a curious expression. If something produces sound, then it’s not silent.

I was thinking about that fact recently when I read over some communications I had with Rajinder “Raja” Gill and Juan “JJ” Guerrero from ASUS. We were discussing just how cool the new second generation Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs can be run and also the plethora of power saving options on current P67/Z68 based motherboards. It’s getting extremely easy to build a really quiet and powerful PC.

This discussion started me thinking about building a silent, or at least a very quiet PC. JJ suggested that I take a take a look at the ASUS P67 Sabertooth paired with a 2500K CPU. I liked the information I found so, I got 1 of each and then I started a very careful parts selection which resulted in an outstanding system, pictured below.
