How to Add Wheels to the Platform:4 and Platform:6 Desks

Last updated:

Working in a studio where things are constantly moving around? Or perhaps you're in a dynamic environment and need a mobile workstation with the full power of a desktop PC? With our Platform:4 and Platform:6 desks, you're able to add wheels to increase mobility while retaining the full capabilities of a desktop workstation.

Compatible Wheels

The Platform:4 and Platform:6 desks are compatible with M8 threaded caster wheels. As for the length of the bolt, 15-20mm is suitable. Here's an example listing. Wheels with longer bolts are not recommended, as you risk the bolt colliding with the internals of the desk feet.

Installing Wheels

The process for installing wheels onto our Platform:4 and Platform:6 desks couldn't be easier. If your desk is already set up, simply prop it up by placing an object underneath it - this will allow you to freely remove the pads underneath and install the wheels.

If you haven't set up your Platform:6 or Platform:4 desk yet, then the process is even easier - just install the caster wheels instead of the pads when you get to that step of the setup. If your casters have brakes, keep them engaged to make flipping the desk over near the end of assembly easier.

If you're going to add wheels to your Platform:6/Platform:4 desk and want to take the mobile workstation to a whole new level with a PC actually mounted to your Platform:6 or Platform:4 desk, check out our 3D printable pegboard PC build.
