Firmware Update Failed - Troubleshooting Tips

Here are some suggestions to help you resolve the issue and get your device updated:

  • Ensure your device is plugged directly into the USB ports at the rear of your system into the motherboard. Some motherboards may specifically label ports recommended for devices like keyboards and mice. Any USB port that is controlled directly by the chipset is preferred.
  • Do not use a USB hub, docking station, or USB switch. We would recommend avoiding any of the USB ports on the PC case itself as these usually use a hub for communication.

  • Close all motherboard-related software and utilities before starting the firmware update. These programs can sometimes take control of the device via their respective SDKs, which can prevent the firmware updater from communicating properly. Think of this kind of conflict as similar to trying to access a file while it’s still open and being unable to make changes.
  • If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try performing the update on a different PC. Other system-specific conflicts or issues can sometimes prevent the update from completing successfully. Trying the update on another computer can often be a quicker way to rule out or bypass these conflicts than troubleshooting on your current system.
