Best PSU for AMD RX 9060 XT

Last updated:

Just a few short months after AMD released the RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs, it has now launched an even more budget-friendly card: the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. Available in 8 GB VRAM and 16 GB VRAM variants, these GPUs are geared towards 1080p and 1440p gaming.

Happily, this means that the Total Graphics Power (TGP aka TDP) is quite low, which makes the process of choosing a PSU cheaper and easier. This goes for both the 8 GB and 16 GB models, as they share the same PSU requirements.

AMD RX 9060 XT System Requirements

  • PCIe 5.0 x16 Slot
  • 160 W Total Graphics Power
  • 540 W Required System Power (most models)
  • 1x 8-pin power cable.

It’s worth mentioning that AMD is not making a “Reference Model” 9060 XT, meaning that only AIBs (companies like PowerColor, Gigabyte, ASUS, etc.) are offering this GPU. As such, some of them specify differing TDPs and minimum wattages for recommended power supplies.

To sidestep this issue, we’re playing it safe and mostly recommending slightly overpowered PSUs. This ensures you’ll be covered regardless of which 9060 XT model you get and gives you some breathing room for future upgrades.

Best Fully Modular PSU for AMD RX 9060 XT: CORSAIR RM650e

The CORSAIR RM650e represents a super-strong value proposition for a GPU such as the RX 9060 XT. It exceeds the recommended PSU capacity by about 100W, which is always handy. The RM650e is fully modular and comes with all the cable variations a modern gaming PC needs. This includes a native 12V-2x6 connection in case you upgrade to a GPU that uses that cable in the future.

Best White PSU for AMD RX 9060 XT: CORSAIR RM750e White

Of course, we can’t forget those who like to roll with that all-white tidy look. With more and more PC parts being available in white, it’s getting way easier to build a PC like this. We can help, too, with the CORSAIR RM750e in White.

Not only is the PSU white, but so is the fan, and even the cables are all-white, including the connector housings. This means you get a fully cohesive white power supply instead of having to deal with some reluctant two-tone nonsense. It’s worth mentioning that we’re recommending the 750 W version here because we don't make a 650 W RMe PSU in White. But there's no real downside to an overpowered PSU.

Hence the CORSAIR CX550. This is a PSU that has everything you need and nothing you don’t. It’s not modular, so some additional efforts will be needed when it comes to cable management, but the entire unit is only 125 mm long, so there will be plenty of room for this. Even more so if you’re not using HDD storage.
