In January 2019, CORSAIR released the HARPOON RGB WIRELESS, a compact wireless mouse that became one of the most popular entry points into CORSAIR's mouse lineup. Seven years later, the HARPOON v2 WIRELESS arrives as its successor, carrying the same goal of an accessible, everyday wireless mouse forward with a meaningfully updated sensor, switches, connectivity, and shape.
While the two mice share a name and a similar mission, comparing them side by side shows just how much has changed under the hood. Here's a direct breakdown of what separates them.

HARPOON v2 Wireless
HARPOON RGB WIRELESS was built as a compact, contoured mouse with a slight right-hand lean, popular with claw-grip players who wanted a smaller footprint. HARPOON v2 WIRELESS takes a more deliberately ergonomic approach, introducing a fully asymmetrical shape with a built-in thumb rest and textured side grips designed to reduce fatigue over longer sessions.
At 115.5mm x 68.3mm x 40.4mm, the HARPOON v2 WIRELESS also cuts its weight by nearly 20% compared to its predecessor, coming in at 80g versus the original 99g. The result is a mouse that keeps a similar compact footprint while feeling noticeably lighter in hand.
HARPOON RGB WIRELESS shipped with a PixArt PMW3325 optical sensor rated for up to 10,000 DPI, 100 IPS of tracking speed, and 20G of acceleration, a capable sensor for its time and price point. HARPOON v2 WIRELESS replaces it with the CORSAIR MARKSMAN 26K optical sensor, jumping to 26,000 DPI, 650 IPS tracking speed, and 50G of acceleration, a significant leap in maximum sensitivity and tracking headroom over its predecessor. Both mice offer five onboard DPI stages that can be cycled without software running in the background.
Click durability has also improved. HARPOON RGB WIRELESS uses Omron switches rated for 50 million clicks. HARPOON v2 WIRELESS moves to mechanical switches rated for 100 million clicks, doubling the rated lifespan of the original.
Tri-mode wireless connectivity, 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, and wired USB, is common ground between the two mice, but what's changed is what's powering that link and how long it lasts. The HARPOON RGB WIRELESS uses CORSAIR's original SLIPSTREAM wireless technology, while the HARPOON v2 WIRELESS steps up to SLIPSTREAM v1.5, holding the same 1ms-at-1,000Hz low-latency connection but pairing it with a much larger battery. Where the original topped out at up to 60 hours of battery life in Bluetooth mode, the HARPOON v2 WIRELESS is rated for up to 140 hours over 2.4GHz and up to 210 hours over Bluetooth. Both mice include a physical switch on the underside to move between modes without needing to open any software.
Software is one of the more visible changes between the two mice. HARPOON RGB WIRELESS is managed through CORSAIR iCUE, CORSAIR's full desktop software suite for lighting, macros, and device settings.
HARPOON v2 WIRELESS instead uses CORSAIR Web Hub, a browser-based tool for configuring DPI stages, button assignments, lighting effects, and device settings without installing a dedicated program. Settings are saved automatically to the mouse's onboard profile, so configuration carries over between systems without reinstalling software.
HARPOON RGB WIRELESS built its reputation on being a lightweight wireless mouse and for players already using one, it remains a capable everyday mouse. HARPOON v2 WIRELESS is built to extend that same accessibility with meaningfully upgraded hardware across the board: a sensor with more than double the maximum DPI, switches rated for twice the click lifespan, more than double the battery life, a lighter and more ergonomically sculpted shape, and browser-based software that skips the install.
For anyone deciding between the two, HARPOON v2 WIRELESS represents where the HARPOON line goes next.
