Modern Warfare 4 System Requirements and Recommended Specs

Atualizada

As another year rolls around, so too does a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise. After Battlefield 6 stole the show last year, Modern Warfare 4 appears to be going for a similarly traditional FPS approach. That means a present-day (ish) setting and no double jumping, or wallrunning. We’re also getting a proper single player campaign, with the antagonist being the only nation no one cares about offending, North Korea.

Those who played the beta will know that this game looks great, and has a very low TTK, so if you want to be competitive, you need high FPS. Let’s take a look at the system requirements to can see if your PC has the stones.

MW4 Recommended PC Specs

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i7-8700

MW4 Ray Tracing Specs

Happily, Activision has also provided a separate requirements list for those who want to truly max out the game at 4K with Ray Tracing. (Though there is no mention of what FPS you can get with this.)

  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit (Latest update)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-10700K
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti

GPU Drivers for MW4

It’s worth mentioning here that, like many Triple-A PC games, your GPU manufacturer will be releasing drivers that you will need to update to in order to get the best experience. So, before you install the game, here are the drivers per GPU brand you need to have:

  • AMD: 26.7.1
  • NVIDIA: 616.56; ASD-compatible driver will be made available on October 21, before Modern Warfare 4 launches
  • Intel: 32.0.101.8974

Can I run MW4?

The requirements for MW4 aren’t so bad. However, given the low TTK and fast-paced nature of the multiplayer, it’s recommended that you prioritize a high FPS over visual fidelity. Annoyingly, the Activision support article about the system requirements gives no FPS target for each set of requirements.

Anyway, if you’re keen for MW4 and are considering upgrading your setup, the GPU is of paramount importance here. Anything from the Nvidia 50-Series or the AMD 90-Series will be perfect for this game. Additionally, if you’re still using a 60 Hz monitor, bumping that up to 120 Hz or higher will have a profound impact not just for MW4, but for any PC games.

Given the competitive nature of MW4’s multiplayer, a suitable gaming mouse, mousepad, headset, and maybe keyboard is recommended. The CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO ULTRALIGHT is the perfect accompaniment. This pairs well with the MM PRO Control series of mousepads.

For headsets, the HS80 MAX strikes a great balance between comfort and performance for long sessions, and the flip-to-mute mic is convenient for comms.

What Kind of Game is MW4?

Of all the game franchises out there, Call of Duty is possibly the most widely-known. So, we don’t need to explain that. However, those of you who have written off the more recent entries in the franchise might reconsider. If you played the Beta you already know that the multiplayer is very appealing for those who like a very fast-paced feel. It’s roughly halfway between old-school Call of Duty and Counter Strike in terms of speed. There is very little room for error, so if you’re jonesing for a new FPS to get competitive with, this could be it.

The single-player looks cool too. In classic Call of Duty fashion, you alternate between two protagonists: Private Park, a South Korean Marine defending South Korea from an invasion by North Korea, and Captain Price, who is operating entirely outside of the law after assassinating the US General in the previous game. This means you can expect to experience all-out warfare as Park, and more stealthy, lone-warrior type gameplay as Price.
