The CORSAIR AIR 5400 is designed from the ground up to support 120mm fans and AIOs such as the iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX LCD or NAUTILUS 360 RS ARGB. But can we improve this?
What about adding thicker fans? Here at CORSAIR, we make 30mm thick case fans with the RS MAX and RX MAX, so could you swap these in for improved cooling performance?
For the AIO Chamber, the answer is yes. You have 70mm of space to mount the AIO radiator and fans. Given that our AIO radiators (and many other brands) are 27mm thick, adding 30mm thick fans still comes in below the maximum.
For the other case fan locations you can also install the thicker 30mm RX MAX fans. This is the case for the bottom intake, the top exhaust, and the optional rear exhaust.
Lower fans mount using the spot marks on the fan tray
For the upper fans ensure they are mounted as far left as possible
When comparing the RS and RX fans to the MAX variants you can expect a performance improvement of between 15 and 17% over standard 25mm fans. More detailed information on the difference can be found in our 35mm vs 30mm fan comparison article.
