Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Mode: Everything We Know So Far

With anticipation for Battlefield 6 at fever pitch after the hugely successful Open Beta, we’re finally getting concrete information about the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Mode. Battle Royales have become increasingly common within the FPS genre, so it’s surprising we had to wait until 2025 for Battlefield to offer one. Anyway, here’s the lowdown.

EA has shared a few nuggets of information via its official blog, and here’s what stands out so far. Bear in mind that some or all of this could change before the Battle Royale mode is officially released.

Player Count, Squad Size, and Classes

Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode will support 100 players per server, split into 25 squads of four players each. This makes sense, as it provides the opportunity to have a squad with one of each class type: Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support. In an ideal world, this would create an optimally balanced squad, however as Assault is the most popular class, most squads will probably be solely comprised of this.

Destruction

Being the hallmark of the Battlefield franchise, destruction is of course included in this mode. So, unlike many other BR games, buildings are no longer invulnerable sources of cover that force a would-be interloper to flank around. Now, they can blow through a wall or just drop the entire building on you. This should provide some interesting variation in gameplay from match to match.

Vehicles

Vehicles will be present in the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode, though we do not yet know how the full range of vehicles will be included. We’re sure Jeeps and ATVs and such will be there, but the presence of jets and choppers seems to be up in the air. This makes sense, as air supremacy might make for a wholly unbalanced experience. If every Battle Royale game becomes a “which squad can get into a helicopter first” competition, the gameplay might suffer.

The Ring

This looks like one of the most unique aspects. The ring in the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode instantly kills the player. Unlike most BRs, where you can dally around in the ring for a while, either for tactical reasons or just because you were running late, this ring will kill you instantly on contact. This might help make the final stages a lot more frantic, which could be great fun, stressful, or both. Conversely, it could be too merciless and prevent a more nuanced approach in the endgame.

Missions

Missions that reward you with better weapons, gadgets, armor, attachments, or even mobile redeploy units upon completion will be a part of this mode. These missions are designed to emphasize coherent teamplay, which will hopefully reduce the number of players who instantly split from the squad, run away, die, and disconnect. Anyone who’s ever played a Battle Royale will know these people as a plague on the genre.

The rewards for these missions will drop from the sky, meaning there’s potential for opposing squads to swoop in and steal them. With the aforementioned insta-kill ring, players will need to have considerable awareness of their surroundings when it comes to missions.

Will Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode be available on release?

We don't know the answer to that.

We're also short on specific details about the map. Presumably, it will be thematically related to a setting from the story mode, or be a widened variation of one of the multiplayer maps.

It's also worth mentioning that you can sign up for EA's Playtesting program for a chance to get early access to the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode.

Remember to Enable Secure Boot first, though.
