CORSAIR CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 vs CORSAIR K65 RGB MINI: What’s the Difference?

Last updated:

The CORSAIR CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 is the latest keyboard to enter CORSAIR’s lineup. While the new 60% keyboard bears some resemblance to previous 60% keyboards like the CORSAIR K65 RGB MINI, it is strikingly different under the hood.

The main differentiator here is of course the key switches. The CORSAIR MGX HYPERDRIVE CORE Hall Effect magnetic switches in the CORSAIR CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 allow for an impressive degree of customization, setting it apart from the leaf spring mechanical switches in the CORSAIR K65 RGB MINI.

Hall Effect Customizations

All of the Hall Effect customization features are explained in more detail in their own articles; here is a brief overview of each.

  • Multi-Action: Four distinct actions mapped to a single key (half-press, full press, half-release, and full release), made possible by Hall Effect’s ability to know the exact switch position and direction of movement
  • Tap Lock: Custom toggle actions, where a key press registers as holding the key down; useful for crouch or run inputs
  • Smart Tap: Two different actions assigned to a single key, one for a brief press or tap, the other when the key is held down; allows for using Shift and other modifier keys as arrow keys when pressed and the modifier function when held down
  • Rapid Trigger: Customize exactly when the switch will actuate and reset, allowing for much quicker actuation and switch reset

The Complete Package

In addition to the software suite setting CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 apart, there is a bevy of added features when compared to the K65 RGB MINI.

FlashTap SOCD gives complete control over simultaneous strafe inputs in-game, 2 layers of sound dampening material provide a more subtle and refined sound profile, and an IP57 ingress rating means that CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 is better protected from dust and other potentially damaging occurrences.

CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 is more than an upgrade; it redefines the standard for CORSAIR’s 60% keyboard offering.
