What Resolution is my Monitor?

Monitor resolution is important for everyone - even for those aren't gaming. A higher resolution monitor is often crucial for productivity tasks – such as video & photo editing, sharper text for coding to reduce eye strain, or data analysis where you need visibility of more rows & columns. To check what resolution your monitor is, we have a few easy methods below.

The easiest method to check your monitor's resolution is via Windows Display Settings. We've quickly visualized how to access Display Settings from your desktop, as well as where you can find the resolution.

1. Right-click on your desktop.
2. Select "Display settings"
3. Open the drop-down menu for "Display resolution" - typically the highest number resolution available is your monitor's native resolution. In case you aren't on the highest resolution available, it may be worth switching to use your monitor's full capability.
4. You can also click on "Advanced display" for additional details that display the maximum supported resolution, as well as refresh rate. Scale & layout section.

You can also check your screen resolution via the control panel for your graphics driver. In our example below, we checked via the NVIDIA Control Panel. AMD and Intel graphics control panels will have a similar function within their software, where they will provide monitor information, including max resolution.
