STEP-BY-STEP CONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS

Download and install Elgato Wave Link 3

VOXARA operates as a plug-and-play device with no software installed.
The steps below cover Elgato Wave Link 3, which unlocks lighting customization, Voice Focus, multi-channel mixing, and firmware updates.

Step 1 – First-Time Setup Wizard

The first time you launch Wave Link 3 with VOXARA connected, a guided setup wizard appears.

A. Click [Get started] on the “Set up your VOXARA” welcome screen.

B. Light up your mic — rotate the RGB knob at the back of the device to switch between three lighting modes: Multi-Color, Solid Color, and Clipping mode. These can also be adjusted later in Wave Link.

C. Connect your headphones — plug into the 3.5mm port on the back of VOXARA, then use the PC audio sample and Output volume slider to fine-tune monitoring level.

D. Position your mic — speak into the side of the microphone, facing the front. Use your hand to measure distance: thumb at your mouth, pinky pointing toward the mic.

E. Set your gain — speak at your normal volume while watching the meter.
Aim to keep your voice mostly in the green, near the target zone around the green area.
Use the Input gain slider until you are in the safe range.

F. Try real-time voice monitoring — with headphones connected, use the Mic/PC mix slider to balance your voice against PC audio while speaking.

G. Light up your mic — choose a Multi-Color effect (Rainbow, Horizon, Color Shift, Color Pulse, Watercolor), a Solid Color, or Level Meter.

H. Click [Done]. VOXARA is fully set up and optimized; settings can be tweaked anytime in Wave Link.

Step 2 – Input and Monitoring

The device panel has four tabs: Input & monitoring, Lighting, Effects, and Settings.

Input gain – microphone gain

Output volume – headphone monitoring volume

Mic/PC mix – balances live microphone monitoring against PC playback audio in your headphones.

Sound Check – record a short clip and play it back through your monitoring output to confirm level, tone, and any active effects.

Step 3 – Lighting

The Lighting tab lists all effects grouped by category: Multi-Color, Solid Color, and Clipping mode.

Rainbow – Speed control (Slow / Medium / Fast).

Horizon – Speed control plus a four-way Direction control.

Color Shift / Color Pulse – two customizable colors with hex or RGB entry, Random or Alternating pattern, and Speed.

Watercolor – two customizable colors, Random or Alternating overlay, and Speed.

Static (Solid Color) – six selectable color slots, each with a full color picker.
Defaults cycle Red → Yellow → Green → Blue → Purple → Black via the RGB knob.

Level Meter (Clipping mode) – no additional settings.

Turns the microphone into a live input-level meter.

Step 4 – Effects

The Effects tab hosts software-side audio processing.

Voice Focus (by ai-coustics) – toggle on or off, with a Weak-to-Strong intensity slider.
Isolates your voice and suppresses background noise such as keyboard typing, fans, and ambient sound.

Add effect – opens the picker for additional downloaded effects, such as Elgato Compressor, Elgato EQ, or purchased voice-effect packs.

Added effects appear as separate toggles with their own controls.

Step 5 – Device Settings

General – device name, serial number, firmware version, and OLED direction (Normal / Flipped for inverted mounting), the software equivalent of the hardware screen-flip gesture.

LED indicators – global brightness for the RGB lamp and mute indicator, range 0–100 with a default of 50%.
A Mute indicator toggle, plus separate color pickers for Mute (ring) and Unmute (ring) colors.

Start setup tour – re-runs the first-time onboarding wizard from Step 1 at any time.

Step 6 – Update Firmware

Wave Link 3 is the sole firmware update path for VOXARA.

A. Open Settings → General and check the Firmware version panel.

B. If an update is available, the panel displays “Firmware update available” with an [Update firmware] button.

C. Press [Update firmware] and allow roughly a minute to complete.

Note: do not unplug the microphone or close Wave Link during the update.
While updating, the mute indicator and RGB lamp flash red synchronously; on success they flash green for 3 seconds before reverting to the previous lighting mode.

Step 7 – Mute and Sound Check

A. Click the on-screen [Mute] button or tap the MUTE TOUCH BUTTON (A) on top of the microphone. Either immediately mutes or unmutes.

B. Under Sound Check, click [Rec] to record a short clip, then play it back through your monitoring headphones to confirm level, clarity, and any active effects.

Step 8 – Mixes and Audio Flow

Under “Mixes & effects” in the left navigation, Wave Link routes multiple sources into separate mixes — one for your stream and one for your own headphones, for example.

A. Click [Create channel] to add an application — Discord, a game, a media player — as its own routable channel alongside the VOXARA microphone channel.

B. Set each channel’s level independently per mix, so your audience and your monitoring can differ.

Step 9 – Wave Link App Settings

Separate from the VOXARA device settings in Step 5, Wave Link has its own application Settings panel covering software updates, audio devices, effects, OBS Studio integration, Soundboard, and backup and restore.

Step 10 – Elgato Marketplace

From the Effects tab via [Add effect], or directly in the Marketplace, reviewers can browse and download additional audio effects, EQ presets, and voice filters for Wave Link.
