How to Customize RGB Lighting on VOXARA

Last updated:

CORSAIR's newest addition to its audio lineup, the VOXARA USB Gaming Condenser Microphone, brings studio-grade audio to any desktop setup. But VOXARA isn't just built to sound good; it's built to look good too. Wrapped around the microphone's housing is vibrant RGB lighting, giving VOXARA a striking presence on any desk or stream while offering a level of lighting customization that goes well beyond a single static color.

From animated Multi-Color effects to precise Solid Color picks and a functional Level Meter mode, VOXARA's lighting can be shaped to match any battlestation's aesthetic. This article covers how to adjust VOXARA's lighting through three methods: onboard controls, Elgato Wave Link, and iCUE Murals in CORSAIR's new iCUE Apps.

RGB Lighting Categories

VOXARA's RGB lighting sits around the microphone's housing, and rather than offering just a single glow, it's built around a set of distinct lighting categories, each with its own behavior and level of customization. VOXARA's RGB lighting supports three lighting categories:

  • Multi-Color: Dynamic, animated effects such as Rainbow, Horizon, Color Shift, Color Pulse, and Watercolor.
  • Solid Color: A single static color, chosen from a set of customizable color slots.
  • Level Meter (Clipping mode): Turns the RGB lighting into a real-time visual indicator of input gain rather than a decorative effect.

Onboard RGB Controls

VOXARA can cycle through its lighting categories without opening any software, using the RGB Mode Cycle Knob on the back of the device. Rotate the RGB knob to switch between the three lighting categories: Multi-Color, Solid Color, and Level Meter. Press the knob to cycle through the sub-modes within whichever category is currently active. For example, in Solid Color mode, pressing the knob steps through six default colors in this order: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Black (off).

The RGB lighting also communicates mute status. The Mute Indicator Ring lights up to reflect whether the microphone is muted or unmuted, activated by the tap-to-mute sensor built into the top of the microphone. Overall, these onboard controls are meant for quick, real-time adjustments.

Elgato Wave Link RGB Customization

Wave Link is the primary software for VOXARA and unlocks the full range of lighting customization. The first time Wave Link is launched with VOXARA connected, a guided setup wizard walks through an initial lighting choice, but every setting can be revisited at any time from the device panel's Lighting tab. In Wave Link, the enhanced customization includes:

1) Multi-Color Effects

Each Multi-Color effect includes its own set of adjustable parameters:

  • Rainbow: Speed control (Slow, Medium, or Fast).
  • Horizon: Speed control plus a four-way direction control.
  • Color Shift and Color Pulse: Two customizable colors, set by hex code or RGB value, with Random or Alternating pattern options and Speed control.
  • Watercolor: Two customizable colors with Random or Alternating pattern, and Speed control.

2) Solid Color

This mode offers six selectable color slots, each adjustable using a hex code or a precise color picker for exact color matching. This is the same set of colors accessible via the RGB knob's default cycle, but with complete color control over each slot. Once a color is set, it saves directly to VOXARA, so the update carries over even when Wave Link isn't running.

3) Level Meter

Level Meter mode has no additional lighting settings to configure within Wave Link. Instead, it repurposes the RGB lighting as a live input-level meter, giving a visual read on gain in real time.

4) LED Indicator Settings

Beyond the main lighting effects, the Settings tab in Wave Link includes dedicated controls for the microphone's indicator lighting:

  • Global brightness: Adjustable from 0 to 100, with a default of 50%.
  • Mute indicator toggle: Turns the mute status indicator on or off.
  • Mute and Unmute colors: Separate color controls for the ring color shown when the microphone is muted versus unmuted.

iCUE Apps

VOXARA's RGB lighting can also be synchronized across a full setup using iCUE Murals, though doing so requires CORSAIR's new iCUE Apps. iCUE Apps is CORSAIR's new hub for managing hardware across its full family of brands from a single account. Rather than opening a separate app for each device, iCUE Apps installs whichever app a connected device needs, covering products from CORSAIR, Elgato, SCUF, and Fanatec.

iCUE Murals RGB Synchronization

iCUE Murals gives VOXARA the ability to fully synchronize its RGB lighting with the rest of a CORSAIR setup, such as RGB DRAM, coolers, fans, and more. To install iCUE Murals:

  1. Install and open iCUE Apps

2. Navigate to Apps

3. Select iCUE Murals and install

4. Open iCUE Murals

Once installed, VOXARA appears alongside other compatible CORSAIR devices in Murals' shared layout. From there, effects can be applied and synchronized across VOXARA and the rest of the setup. VOXARA can be synchronized using the following effects:

  • Audio Lighting: Lighting based on system audio.
  • Monitor Screen: Lighting based on what's displayed on screen.
  • Image: Upload an image, and lighting is based on where it falls within it.
  • Video: Upload a video, and lighting is based on what's in it.
  • YouTube Video: Paste a YouTube link, and lighting is based on what's in the video.
  • Static Color: A single color applied across all devices.
  • Color Shift: Cycles between two colors across all devices.
  • Gradient: A gradient blend across 2 to 6 colors on all devices.
  • Watercolor Spectrum: An overlapping, shifting blend of colors across all devices.
  • Rainbow: Cycles through the full rainbow.
  • Spiral Rainbow: Cycles through the rainbow in a spiral pattern.
  • Rainbow Wave: Cycles through the rainbow in a wave pattern.

As with Wave Link, every effect can be customized further within iCUE Murals, but with control extending across the entire connected setup rather than VOXARA alone.

Lighting that Fits Your Setup

VOXARA's RGB lighting can be adjusted at three levels: quick changes directly on the microphone through the RGB knob, full customization through Elgato Wave Link, or full synchronization with the rest of a CORSAIR setup through iCUE Murals. Together, these controls let VOXARA's lighting match any setup, whether that's a quick default color or a fully custom animated effect.
