DDR5 is the latest and current generation of memory for mainstream systems, providing more speed, bandwidth, and capacity than previous generations.
What do I need to run DDR5 memory in my system?
To run DDR5 memory, you'll need a system equipped with a motherboard and CPU that supports DDR5.
Currently, supported mainstream platforms are the following:
Intel - 600-Series (or newer) motherboard* chipset and 12th Gen Core Series (or newer) processor
AMD - 600-Series (or newer) motherboard* chipset and Ryzen 7000 Series (or newer) processor
*When picking components, verify that the selected motherboard supports DDR5 as certain vendors may offer DDR4-compatible motherboards which would not support DDR5 memory.
