The iCUE LINK System Hub is the control center for all iCUE LINK devices. It attaches to the back of the motherboard tray magnetically and has channels on both sides, supporting 12 devices per channel. It’s gone through several revisions since its launch in June of 2023. The newest version is now shipping with AIOs and select iCUE LINK fan kits and has been updated in several ways. Follow along as we go over the changes.
The System Hub supports up to 24 devices across two channels and uses a single 6-pin PCIe power cable and a USB-C data cable.

The biggest change to the new System Hub is it no longer requires an adapter for power. The previous version used an adapter cable that went from a 6-pin PCIe cable into the System Hub. That adapter has been removed for a quicker and easier setup, so now you just connect a 6-pin PCIe power cable directly to the System Hub.

The first two versions of the System Hub featured a Micro-USB connection for data transfer between iCUE LINK devices and the host system. However, the new version features a USB Type-C connection for improved simplicity since there is only one way to connect it. Some units of the current System Hub also feature a USB Type-C connection as we began to transition to this design in early 2026, but it’s now fully implemented so all new System Hubs will offer this feature.

There is a lot of data moving in and out of the System Hub, so it can get toasty (but never dangerous). To help out with thermals, we have added ventilation slots to the sides and top of the unit to help keep it running cool.
The new iCUE LINK System Hub has the same name as the previous model since it’s an update and not a redesign. It is being added to new products in 2026, so depending on when the product you ordered was made, you might see the previous unit in your box, or the new one.
The good news is both devices have the exact same functionality, so if you order an AIO or fans and find the previous System Hub in the box, do not fret as it will perform exactly to spec and will reliably power up to 24 devices across two channels. There is zero difference in terms of performance between any generation of System Hub. They just feature slightly different designs.
