STAR WARS: Galactic Racer System Requirements

Some of us will remember the iconic Star Wars Episode 1: Racer from 1999 and its lesser-known follow-up, Star Wars Racer Revenge. Since then, it's been unnervingly quiet in terms of racing games from the Star Wars universe.

Thankfully, that's set to change with Star Wars: Galactic Racer due to land on October 6, 2026. This is the debut game from UK-based Fuse Studios, which is made up of former Criterion Games staff who worked on the vehicle scenes from Star Wars Battlefront. Plus, they worked on previous Need for Speed and Burnout titles, so it’s looking promising to say the least.

What’s the game about, though? Well, if you have played the previous Star Wars racing games, you’ve likely already decided which Pod Racer you want.

But there’s more to the game than just the incredibly fast and fragile Pod Racers.
You can play with Speeder Bikes, Landspeeders, and Skim Speeders, each of which handles differently, and requires a slightly different play style. And don’t worry, you can customize them all!

The game is set in the Outer Rim post-war boom after the fall of the Empire, where you play a mechanic hired to beat the reigning champ, Kester Bool.

We have the classic tracks Mos Espa making a return, along with new tracks such as Lantaana and Ando Prime, each bringing new challenges and opportunities to create memorable races.

At the time of writing, only the minimum specifications have been released. The recommended specs are a speculative guideline.

Given the rather relaxed specifications, it is quite likely you will be able to. Though if you're only packing16GB of RAM, upgrading to a high-capacity memory kit, such as CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5, can provide additional headroom and a bit of future-proofing for upcoming games.

To get the most out of the game, as with most fast-paced titles, a powerful GPU is important. Racing games look best at high frame rates, and high-speed memory can also help reduce the chance of in-game stuttering, which is the last thing you want when you're trying to thread a Pod Racer through tight tunnels.

If you already have the game, or have noticed your PC putting out enough heat to melt a pit droid, you may want to consider upgrading your cooler.
