MM Anti-Fray vs MM Pro Control vs MM Glass: Which Should You Get?

CORSAIR’s MM mousepad lineup is built to cover three distinct performance categories: Balance, Control, and Speed. The MM Anti-Fray, MM Pro Control, and MM Glass mousepads are developed for different types of players while sharing the MM family name. This article will break down the differences between the mousepads in the MM family and help identify which mousepad is the right fit.

Surface Material: Cloth vs Glass

Within the MM series, CORSAIR offers mousepads in two main surface materials: cloth and glass.

Both the MM Anti-Fray and the MM PRO Control are cloth mousepads, but the type of weave distinguishes them. The MM Anti-Fray uses a micro-woven cloth that produces a faster glide along the X-axis and a slightly slower glide along the Y-axis, delivering a balanced feeling between speed and control. The MM Pro Control uses a random-weave fabric that delivers a consistent, uniform glide in every direction, providing precise, repeatable performance across the full surface.

The MM Glass is the only mousepad in the MM family built from micro-etched glass rather than cloth. The glass surface produces a more uniform feel across every inch of the mousepad, with reduced friction for a smoother, while the micro-etched texture retains enough surface feedback for precise, controlled stops. The one tradeoff compared to cloth is an adjustment period: players switching from cloth may need time to recalibrate to the change in glide and stopping behavior.

Base Material: Natural Rubber vs Polyurethane

The base material directly affects how each mousepad sits and holds against the desk, and it's one of the key differences within the MM family.

MM Anti-Fray uses a natural rubber base. Natural rubber is a softer, more flexible material that grips the desk through the inherent grip of the rubber itself. It holds consistently across the full-size range, and its flexibility allows it to conform naturally to the desk surface beneath it.

MM Pro Control and MM Glass both use a hex-patterned polyurethane base. Polyurethane is a denser, more rigid material that locks down through compression against the desk. The hex pattern adds additional grip points against the desk surface, enhancing stability under aggressive, repeated mouse movements. Polyurethane also tends to be more resistant to heat and wear over time, making it well suited to the demands of competitive play. On the MM Glass specifically, the hex-patterned base also contributes to noise reduction, keeping it quieter than competing glass mousepads.

Mousepad Sizes

The MM series spans M through 3XL, but size availability varies across the three mousepads.

MM Sizes

MM Anti-Fray covers the widest range M, L, XL, XXL, and 3XL spanning both standard mousepad and full desk mat formats. It's the only pad in the family that covers every desk configuration.

MM Anti-Fray Sizes:

  • M (320 x 300mm)
  • L (450 x 400mm)
  • XL (930 x 300mm)
  • XXL (930 x 400mm)
  • 3XL (1220 x 590mm)

MM Pro Control is available in M and L only. The focus is precision and performance within a contained surface area, with a size range built around the competitive player profile it's designed for.

MM Pro Control Sizes:

  • M (320 x 300mm)
  • L (450 x 400mm)

MM Glass comes in a single large size, spacious enough to accommodate a wide range of arm movement styles and sensitivity settings while maintaining the speed and precision the glass surface delivers.

Which Should You Get?

This decision comes down to whether Balance, Control, or Speed is the priority.

  • The MM Anti-Fray is a reliable, balanced cloth mousepad that performs consistently across different games, sensitivity settings, and movement styles. Available from M to 3XL with a natural rubber base, it's the all-round choice for players who want dependable everyday performance without committing to a specialized surface.
  • The MM Pro Control is for competitive-level precision and stopping power. The random-weave fabric delivers consistent glide in every direction, and the hex-patterned polyurethane base provides the stability and cushioning needed for long sessions. The right choice for players where repeatability and control are non-negotiable.
  • The MM Glass is for maximum speed without sacrificing accuracy. The micro-etched glass surface delivers a level of glide fluidity that cloth cannot match, while retaining enough surface feedback for pixel-perfect aim.
