Nostalgia is doing a lot of work in gaming these days, especially when it comes to iconic Xbox franchises. Another remake of the first Halo game is on the horizon, and soon we’re getting a reboot of the Fable game series.
Despite the name, this isn’t a remake of the first Fable game from the original Xbox, it’s entirely rebooting the franchise, and much like Halo: Campaign Evolved, it’s also coming to the PS5 for the first time.
Fable will release on PC in February 2027, which is why we only have the minimum system requirements at the time of writing. We’ll add the recommended system requirements when they are published.
As is becoming increasingly common for PC games, Fable insists that it must be installed on an SSD. This shouldn’t be a problem as SSDs are ubiquitous these days, though you might have to delete some stuff as 135 GB is massive.
The minimum specs are a little tough, though it’s refreshing to have a specific VRAM requirement as specs aren’t usually that detailed. Additionally, listing 12 GB for the minimum RAM requirement is a bit odd because 12 GB is not a common configuration.
If Fable is the game you’ve been waiting for, then we’d recommend a faster or larger capacity SSD, and if the prices don’t make it impossible, then you should get some more RAM. As with games like The Witcher 3 and Starfield, large open worlds feel a lot more immersive when they load in early and smoothly, with both of these hinging largely on your storage speed and RAM capacity.
You might also consider a 50 Series GPU or an AMD 9070 if you like to crank up additional visual settings, and with recent AMD or Nvidia graphics cards, you’ll be able to use FSR or DLSS respectively to make it run smoothly.
It’s an open-world western RPG, so expect it to mix its roots with more modern gameplay developments from The Witcher and the Dark Souls games.
You can expect considerable freedom in progressing your character’s abilities, and plenty of side quests and exploration to fill the gaps. That being said, most games in this genre have aspirations of freedom, but then the actual quests themselves end up being very linear.
Interestingly enough, looking at the Steam store page for Fable, we get the feeling that this game is going to be considerably more light-hearted than the other triple-A RPGs of late, as you can find the quote “Being a Hero is a bit like being a celebrity… if celebrities carried swords and occasionally battled giant fire-breathing chickens.” so… take from that what you will.
