Best CPU Cooler for AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition

With the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition now officially released, many of you might be planning a high-end PC build or thinking about upgrading. If you're curious about which cooler to pair with it, you've come to the right place.

This version of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has an enhanced cache technology with AMD’s 3D V-Cache, which increases performance by adding extra cache memory directly onto the CPU die. This approach allows the CPU to expand its cache capacity without increasing its physical size. Like any processor, this performance improvement translates into higher heat output.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D vs 9900X3D

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Specs

Let’s check out the chart below for a quick comparison between the original Ryzen 9 9950X3D variant and the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. For more detail, check out our 9950X3D2 vs 9950X3D article.

  Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Cores/Threads 16/32 16/32
Base Clock 4.3 GHz 4.3 GHz
Boost Clock Up to 5.6 GHz Up to 5.7 GHz
L2 Cache 16 MB 16 MB
L3 Cache 192 MB 128 MB
TDP 200 W 170 W

As shown in the chart above, the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 200 Watts, which is 30 Watts more than the 9950X3D at 170W — a 17.6% increase. This means you’ll want to choose a very effective cooler. So, why does it need better cooling than the previous version? In the 9950X3D2, the processor’s 3D V-Cache is now placed beneath the cores rather than above, which changes heat distribution, affects the thermal path to the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS), and influences how quickly heat reaches your cooler’s cold plate.

In other words, the chip generates more heat at a faster rate, so you need a cooler capable of handling continuous high heat flux without causing frequencies to drop. With that in mind, we suggest using AIO liquid CPU coolers with at least a 360mm radiator as the minimum baseline for reliable multi-core performance without throttling in your PC build.

NAUTILUS 360 RS & NAUTILUS 360 RS LCD

The NAUTILUS AIO Coolers are more on the mid-to-high end spectrum of CORSAIR’s stack. By all means, that doesn’t mean the NAUTILUS coolers are a slouch in terms of performance and build quality, especially the 360mm radiator variants. It’s an amazing AIO CPU Liquid Cooler solution for those who are more budget-conscious but don’t want to compromise cooling performance, especially when paired with a processor that will be dishing out a good amount of heat continuously.

CORSAIR NAUTILUS RS LCD
Fans 3x RS120 PWM
Noise Level 10-36 dBA
Fan Airflow 13.3 - 72.8 CFM
Tubing Length 450mm
Socket Support Intel 1851, Intel 1700, AMD AM5, AMD AM4
Fan Control Method Motherboard 4-pin PWM Header

Two models to pick from: the non-LCD and the LCD. The LCD version is more popular than the other two models because it can display more. With iCUE software, the screen can display still images, GIFs, or important system information. Or perhaps a mixture of all of them via the screen constructor functionality within iCUE. This allows you to overlay different images and information sources.

NAUTILUS 360 RS ARGB

From the same CORSAIR NAUTILUS AIO Coolers family, this one comes with 3x RS120 ARGB PWM fans. Like the non-RGB versions, the NAUTILUS 360 RS ARGB is an efficient, low-noise pump cooler, and you don’t need a separate controller because it plugs directly into your motherboard.

Fans 3x RS120 ARGB PWM
Noise Level 10-36 dBA
Fan Airflow 13.3 - 72.8 CFM
Tubing Length 450mm
Socket Support Intel 1851, Intel 1700, AMD AM5, AMD AM4
Fan Control Method Motherboard 4-pin PWM Header

If you want a CPU cooler that doesn’t break the bank and can easily manage heat from a processor like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, with some RGB lighting out of the box, the NAUTILUS 360 RS ARGB cooler should be on your short list.

iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX & iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX LCD

Now we’re entering the iCUE LINK Ecosystem territory. For a processor that demands top-notch cooling, such as the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, CORSAIR iCUE LINK AIO Liquid CPU coolers are among the best options you’ll find on the market. The iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX and its LCD variant are designed not only to dissipate CPU heat efficiently but also to enhance the overall aesthetics of your PC build, all while operating whisper-quiet, thanks to its improved 3-phase pump and 3x RX120 fans equipped with Magnetic Bearings for lower acoustics.

Fan Airflow 10.4 - 73.5 CFM
Tubing Length 450mm
Socket Support Intel 1851, Intel 1700, AMD AM5, AMD AM4
Fan Control Method iCUE LINK

As part of the iCUE LINK Ecosystem, coolers like the TITAN 360 RX highlight just how simple it is to install in a PC. Aside from its top-notch performance, ease of installation truly stands out as the highlight of iCUE LINK-compatible products, making the entire PC building experience enjoyable for everyone, no matter their skill level.

iCUE LINK H170i RGB

AIO coolers with 360mm radiators are more than capable of handling the Ryzen 9950X3D2’s thermal output. But if you really want to be on the safe side and eliminate any doubt, an AIO Liquid CPU cooler with a 420mm radiator would be the answer, such as the iCUE LINK H170i RGB. Like the iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX, this cooler is compatible with iCUE LINK, which alone suggests that performance, technology, and ease of installation are among the iCUE LINK H170i’s key features.

Fans 3x QX140 RGB
Noise Level 10-37 dBA
Fan Airflow 12.1 - 82.5 CFM
Tubing Length 450mm
Socket Support Intel 1851, Intel 1700, AMD AM5, AMD AM4
Fan Control Method iCUE LINK

For cooling, the radiator is equipped with three PWM-controlled QX140 RGB (140mm) fans, allowing you to easily adjust fan speeds so they only spin as fast as necessary. This helps keep noise levels down, and with support for Zero RPM, the fans can even stop spinning completely when your system is under low load, making everything quieter and more efficient.

iCUE LINK TITAN 420 RX RGB

The iCUE LINK TITAN 420 RX is the top-performing CORSAIR AIO Liquid CPU cooler, delivering exceptional cooling performance. When paired with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU, you’ll have peace of mind because it keeps the processor’s temperature well within ideal limits, even under heavy use. It’s technically the updated version of the iCUE LINK H170i, with both units featuring iCUE LINK compatibility and 420mm radiators for maximum cooling efficiency.
