CORSAIR WARTHOG vs. C70: PC Case Evolution

Remembered as a classic PC case, the military-inspired CORSAIR C70 combined a distinctive ammo-box aesthetic with the functionality enthusiasts expected at the time. The C70 became one of the most recognizable chassis around and paved the way for its long-awaited successor, the WARTHOG, which brings the same rugged identity into the modern era.

The WARTHOG and C70 share the same military-inspired DNA, but their execution reflects the era in which each case was created. While the C70 featured a brighter military green finish, the WARTHOG adopts a more subdued olive drab colorway that gives it a more authentic, modern appearance.

The side panel has also evolved significantly. The WARTHOG's side window is seamlessly integrated into the overall design while still providing a clear view of internal components and RGB lighting.

One feature that carries over from the C70 is the inclusion of carrying handles. A favorite feature among LAN party enthusiasts, the handles made transporting a fully built system much easier. The WARTHOG continues that tradition with integrated steel handles capable of supporting the weight of a fully equipped system.

The specification table highlights just how much PC cases have evolved since the C70 launched in 2012. The WARTHOG supports significantly more cooling hardware, including dual pre-installed 200mm fans and space for up to 13x 120mm fans in total.

Just as important is the case's airflow-focused design. The C70 was released during a period when cases often prioritized drive capacity and enclosed front panels. Modern systems generate more heat and benefit from unrestricted airflow, which heavily influenced the WARTHOG's design.

The WARTHOG features a much more open ventilation layout, allowing the dual 200mm front fans to deliver fresh air directly to key components. The front and top panels also feature our 3D Y-pattern grille, which increases airflow by 12.7% compared to traditional flat cutouts while reducing airflow resistance.

In addition to the dual 200mm front fans, the WARTHOG supports up to 3x 120mm side-mounted fans. This provides additional intake airflow or space for a side-mounted radiator. The build below, for example, demonstrates a dual-360mm radiator configuration:

The WARTHOG also modernizes front-panel connectivity with USB Type-C, faster USB ports, and a dedicated rear I/O lighting control, while retaining the fighter jet-inspired styling that helped make the original C70 so memorable.
