In my previous blog post, I reported my experience playing Counter-Strike, using the Corsair Vengeance® K60 Performance FPS Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. However, in order to play any game you not only need a keyboard, but a mouse as well. That said, it would make sense for me to have used a Corsair Vengeance Series M60 FPS Laser Gaming Mouse, and, as where I have reported my user experience with the K60 keyboard in my previous post, I will do the same for the M60 Laser Gaming Mouse in this blog post.
Since announcing our first gaming peripherals a few weeks ago, there has been a great deal of interest in our new Vengeance™ K60 and K90 gaming keyboards, which has been very exciting for us to follow. One of the most novel aspects of starting from a completely blank slate was that we were able to develop a product that specifically addresses the needs of PC gamers.
Historically, I have always been a confirmed user of cheap keyboards. I had never really thought that premium keyboards were all that great. But then again, what makes a keyboard... well... good? Until now, it wasn't the looks — the looks only justified our need to spend excessive cash on a simple input device. Even for more than $100.00 USD, most all keyboards are still plastic with rubber dome keys and shiny, fingerprint-prone gloss. So what actually makes a good keyboard? The feel of the keys, the weight of the keyboard, the functionality and responsiveness — these are features that you can't see — you have to experience them.
Here's a question for you: what had 20,984 visitors, a 120Gbit internet connection (yes, Gigabit...), with 13,010 PCs connected to it, and the World's best professional gamers in one place? The answer, as I'm sure you guessed, is Dreamhack Winter 2011, the World's biggest LAN event, which took place last month in Jönköping, Sweden. Corsair was there in full force, showing our awesome new Vengeance K90 and K60 gaming keyboards and Vengeance M60 and M90 laser mice, and in this blog we're going to recap the event and what we got up to.
Our Vengeance K90 keyboard is intended to compliment MMO and RTS type games, and includes some software which will allow you to configure some of the K90 keyboard's options, along with programming custom macros. Below you will find a screencast which gives a general overview of the software and explains some of the features. If you are wondering what type of capabilities the K90 has, or would like to get better acquainted with the software, have a look below!
If you’ve read my previous blog write-ups on the Corsair Vengeance® K60 FPS Gaming Keyboard and the Vengeance M60 FPS Laser Gaming Mouse, then you’ll know that in the past I was never a big promoter of expensive keyboards and mice. By “expensive” I mean, anything over twenty ($20.00) dollars, and I say all of this because such products have almost never enhanced my own user experience to the point where I felt the price was justified. The Vengeance K60 and M60 really changed my tune by following an essential design philosophy: simple appearance, and quality performance. Our flagship Vengeance K90 MMO Gaming Keyboard and M90 MMO Laser Mice follow the the same philosophy, just turned up to 11. Well — turned up to 54 actually...
