How often should I change my thermal paste?

Thermal paste will typically last many, many years and the vast majority of users should never have to worry about it. There are, however, a few situations where you should consider reapplying your thermal paste:

  • If you are experiencing higher-than-normal CPU temperatures (check your CPU temperatures with CORSAIR iCUE software) it might be a sign that either your cooler is not functioning properly or that your thermal paste application has not been done correctly or has dried out.
  • If you recently installed a new CPU cooler or have taken off your old CPU cooler, you should always wipe off the old thermal paste and apply a new coat.
